國家漫畫博物館（National Taiwan Museum of Comics）位於臺中市西區林森路以及自由路交叉口，園區分為臺中市市定古蹟「臺中刑務所典獄官舍及浴場」，以及臺中市歷史建築「臺中刑務所官舍群」共15棟建築。
刑務所官舍群包含三個時期的建築物，有日治時期1915年興建之司獄官官舍，以及1937年興建之演武場，還有戰後1950年代興建之臺中地方法院看守所宿舍。
2023年文化部選定臺中刑務所建築群活化再利用，在此處成立「國家漫畫博物館籌備處」，預計打造總面積達2.75公頃，兼具博物館、圖書館、創意基地的國家漫畫博物館園區，呈現多元型態的漫畫展演，在過去與未來、禁錮與創新的交流碰撞中，展現臺灣漫畫蓬勃的生命力。

The Japanese borrow many Chinese characters. Some meanings are the same as in Chinese, but some are different. The character "湯" in Japanese actually means "bathhouse. "So "男湯" is the men's bathhouse, and "女湯" is the women's bathhouse.
日本人借用很多中國的漢字，有一些意思和中文相同，有一些就不同，「湯」這個字在日文是澡堂的意思，所以「男湯」是男生的澡堂，「女湯」是女生的澡堂。

臺中刑務所演武場是為了讓日治時期在監獄工作的武警練習柔道和劍道時使用，配合這樣的概念，劍道那一邊的木地板結構，除了在厚杉木地板下架空，放上厚粗的彈簧支撐之外，在彈簧下更放了巨大的甕，增加發聲來威嚇對手。而良好的地板彈性可以使練習柔道的武警不易受傷，所以在木地板底下會增加彈簧的數量。
