紫雲巖是臺中重要信仰中心之一，在地人習慣稱紫雲巖為「觀音亭」，傳說清 康熙元年有一位瓦匠，有一天經過牛罵頭山麓紫雲巖現址，將觀音佛祖香火掛在樹上，離開的時候忘記拿，晚上這棵樹發出光芒，大家前往查看只有發現樹上掛著香火袋，覺得有神蹟，大家一起誠心的膜拜，之後更有求必應，後為感謝觀音佛祖，在這裡蓋觀音佛祖廟，這是清水有名的百年廟宇。
紫雲巖屋頂為金黃色瓦片，廟本身以紅色為主色，廟裡的各神像莊嚴，建築物古色古香，龍柱雕刻栩栩如生，裡面的壁畫有各種忠孝節義的故事，讓我們學習他們的精神。每次佛祖生辰、得道日，居民都會擺滿各種鮮花盆栽，以表達對觀音佛祖保佑的感謝。
有空大家可以到這裡走走看看，拜拜完後坐在臺階上看著人來人往，別有一番風味，或者到後面的魚池看魚，感受魚兒帶來的活力，能暫時忘掉所有煩惱呢。
