水流東桐花步道，全長2.4公里，因當地居民於水圳兩旁種滿油桐樹，每年4∼5月開花時，雪白的桐花如下雪般飄落。水圳以前是農業灌溉用的人造水道，一般水道是由東向西流，但這條水道一路由西向東墊高，形成水流東現象。
臺灣的油桐樹多為三年桐或千年桐，生長在水流東桐花步道兩旁油桐樹為千年桐，透過葉形及果實外型觀察，在千年桐樹上可以找到有趣的通關密語「千杯皺」，意思是千年桐樹的葉脈有蜜杯會吸引昆蟲吸蜜，果實的果皮大多具有皺紋。讓我們透過觀察體驗活動，來探索水流東桐花步道的奧秘。
